Advancing Maritime 创新: Saab's Role in NATO's Underwater Exercises
In a recent milestone for maritime innovation, Saab actively participated in two of NATO's ‘operational experimentation exercises’, demonstrating a commitment to cutting-edge technology and collaborative defence efforts.
9月, Saab deployed the AUV62-AT anti-submarine warfare training target, alongside the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), Seaeye猎鹰. The Seaeye猎鹰 was operated from the Portuguese Navy Vessel, 唐·卡洛斯一世, while the AUV62-AT was operated from a naval base. Both systems participated throughout the two exercises, REPMUS和动态信使, 总共三个星期. The exercise is co-organised by the NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE).

This included the laying of targets and conducting underwater procedures used to make suspicious hazards safe, and their remote recovery for forensic analysis. Following identification of unknown AUV contacts, the Falcon ROV was dispatched to conduct a low order EOD procedure on an exercise explosive underwater weapon that had been laid on a cable which represented a section of Critical Undersea Infrastructure.
“猎鹰”, fitted with an Alfords Vulcan user filled modular shaped charge system, was deployed to simulate a low-order effect on the weapon thereby rendering it safe for recovery. Following the simulated firing the Falcon was rerolled for the recovery mission. Using remote EOD recovery techniques the Falcon picked up a hook and line and connected this to the weapon. The weapon was then remotely recovered for subsequent forensic analysis. This sequence of operations demonstrates how unknown devices placed on CUI might be recovered safely for subsequent investigation.
